3 Money Saving Tips Before Going Grocery Shopping

We all have done it.  Most of us hate it.  And it can get expensive.  Have you ever wondered how you can save money on your grocery shopping list?  Below you will find three tips to help you save money while grocery shopping.

Grocery Shopping List

This is IMPORTANT!  Create a list of what you need before heading to the grocery shop.  Make sure you buy enough to last you the whole week, because those little stops at the grocery store can add up quick with impulse purchases.  Make sure you stick to your list at the grocery store.  Planning is one of the best way to save on groceries.  Set your grocery budget when making your list, and stick with it!

Do Your Research

Grocery shops send out flyers in your weekly papers and online.  Review these flyers while making your grocery shopping list.  Sometimes it’s not worth it in price savings to go to different grocery stores, but educate yourself on the prices so you know if something is too much.  This may seem like a chore, but can be done quite easily while having your morning coffee.  Knowledge is key in saving money.

Set a Budget

Before you do anything, set a budget of what you can afford to spend at the grocery store.  And once at the store, follow your budget.  One trick I use is to take a calculator with me and add up everything when I put it into the cart.  If I get above my predefined budget, I start taking things out.  Its simple.  There are always items in your cart you do not need.

Planning your grocery shopping trip before you go is one of the best ways to start saving money.  This is something that only needs to be done once, and then you will have a template to go on.  The less money you waste while grocery shopping a year can add up to a pretty nice treat for yourself.
